How are parasitic infections tested?

There is no single universal “parasite test.” The appropriate method depends on the organism, symptoms, exposure history and body site involved.

Clinicians may use stool examination, blood-based tests, molecular methods, imaging or other targeted testing depending on the suspected infection. A negative result from one method does not automatically prove another method is required; interpretation depends on the clinical context.
